PREENING

Birds have around 25,000 feathers. The health of each feather can be critical to flight, water proofing, and attracting a mate. Flamingos spend about 15% to 30% of their time during the day preening. This is a large percentage compared to other waterfowl, which preen only about 10% of the time.
